Rockers PATTI SMITH, GLEN HANSARD and BOB MOULD will headline a tribute concert in honour of R.E.M. in New York next week (11Mar09).
The singers are among a host of artists who will take to the stage at Carnegie Hall to perform covers of classic R.E.M. tracks.
Tickets for the show are priced between $38 and $275 (Ł27 and Ł196) - with all proceeds split between The American Symphony Orchestra, Church Street School for Music & Art, and The Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation, which aim to benefit music education for underprivileged kids.
Other singers also due to take part in the gig include Ingrid Michaelson, Rhett Miller and Dar Williams. Further acts will be announced in the coming days.
