British pop group SIMPLY RED have been forced to cancel a TV appearance in Brazil after singer MICK HUCKNALL was caught up in an aviation emergency on his way to the country.

The Fairground hitmakers were due to perform on TV show Domingao do Faustao on Sunday (01Mar09) to promote an upcoming series of live dates in the country.
But the band had to scrap the appearance after Hucknall's plane was forced to make an emergency landing.
Hucknall was travelling from Argentine capital Buenos Aires to Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, separately from his bandmates when the aircraft's cabin pressure dropped. Oxygen masks for the passengers failed to activate, forcing the pilot to bring the plane down in the Brazilian city of Sao Paolo instead.
Hucknall was not injured in the incident, but has been ordered to rest, according to a band spokesperson.
A statement on the group's website reads, "The plane had to make a quick descent from 35,000 feet (10,700 metres) to 5,000 feet and was left without enough fuel to continue its journey to Rio. With no flight connections that would get Mick to the live show on time (the rest of the band were already there), Simply Red had no choice but to cancel their planned performance.
"Having been advised to rest to allow his throat and ears time to recover, but in good spirits, the Simply Red frontman expressed his regret at not being able to perform on the show and said he would instead be concentrating all his efforts in playing the band's two shows in Sao Paulo on the 3rd and 4th of March and Rio."
