WOOD URGES SHOPPERS TO BE THRIFTY

RONNIE WOOD's estranged wife JO is urging the public to stop shopping - and start mending their clothes to prevent waste.

The former model - who split from the Rolling Stones star last year (08) - wants people to stop throwing away unwanted garments, suggesting they should be donated to charity or re-used.

Wood claims dumped clothing is starting to have a negative effect on the environment and insists tough financial times can be offset if families cut back on their clothing consumption.

She says, "We are not re-using things anywhere near enough and we seem to be in a culture where stuff gets replaced, even when there's nothing wrong with it. Clothes should be mended rather than thrown away. It makes economical and environmental sense but it will also mean that we will cherish what we have."

Wood is set to receive a multi-million dollar divorce settlement from her rocker husband when their split become official.
