The bosses of herbal health supplement Airborne have offered to hand over $1 million (£714,300) to charity if Oscar winners take their product up to the podium with them on Sunday (22Feb09).
The Airborne $1 million has been offered to all those competing for Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress.
And if the winners help plug the product during the Oscars telecast, they'll each land $1 million for their chosen charity.
Airborne co-founder Rider McDowell, whose schoolteacher wife Victoria created the supplement, says, "It just seemed to me, in this economy, charities are really struggling (and) it seemed like a good time to reward some charities and, if it goes through, we?ll be thrilled to provide the funds to the charity.
"Someone like Meryl Streep, who has been up there before, might see it as a way to get a million bucks for a charity close to her heart."
