MOTOCROSS STAR LUSK DEAD AT 24

Motocross hero JEREMY LUSK has died following a crash at a bike competition in San Jose, Costa Rica.

The daredevil action sports star died on Tuesday (10Feb09) from head injuries sustained in the accident. He was 24.

A spokesman for Calderon Guardia Hospital in San Jose, where Lusk died, has confirmed the biker suffered severe brain damage and a possible spinal cord injury. He fell into a coma immediately after failing to complete a back-flip while attempting a 100-foot jump, and landing headfirst on a landing ramp.

Lusk was an X Games gold medallist in the freestyle motocross competition last summer (08) in California.

He also won two gold medals in an X Games Mexico competition.
