REYNOLDS' MARATHON DAY BRONCHITIS SCARE

Actor RYAN REYNOLDS battled bronchitis to complete the New York Marathon last year (Nov08) - and almost ended up in hospital.

The Blade: Trinity star feared he wouldn't be able to compete in the big race when he started coughing at the start, but the momentum of the day took over and he and his running mate completed the marathon 30 minutes ahead of time.

He tells Men's Health magazine, "We kept making deals with each other, that the next mile we'd slow it down just a little bit."

But they kept charging through the field, cheered on by family and friends en route and ran the final four miles quicker than they'd covered the first four.

Reynolds, who wed Scarlett Johansson just weeks before the marathon, adds, "I finished 30 minutes faster than I thought I would and an hour after that, I thought I would have to go to the hospital."
