The Los Angeles Police Department confirms Brown, 19, and an unidentified woman were involved in a heated argument in Los Angeles early on Sunday (08Feb09).

Police report the woman suffered visible injuries and identified Brown as her attacker.

LAPD officer April Harding issued a statement after a 911 call reported the disturbance: "If police locate Brown, he's subject to arrest."

Earlier on Saturday night (07Feb09), Brown and girlfriend Rihanna - who were both scheduled to perform at the 51st Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday (08Feb09) - attended music mogul Clive Davis' pre-Grammy Gala in Beverly Hills.

Both stars have since cancelled their appearances at the big show.

A statement released on Sunday by Grammy bosses reads, "We have just been informed that Rihanna will not be attending tonight's 51st Annual Grammy Awards. We're sorry she is unable to join us this evening."

No statement has been released regarding Brown's no-show.

A spokesperson for the Umbrella hitmaker tells People.com, "Rihanna is well. Thank you for concern and support."

A spokesperson for Brown had not returned requests for comment as WENN went to press.

Police are refusing to identify the woman involved in the drama.
