OBAMA DESIGNER DROPS FUR

The man who designed U.S. First Lady MICHELLE OBAMA's inauguration gown has been applauded by animal lovers for putting his fur plans on ice.

Jason Wu won acclaim for the off-the-shoulder number he styled for Obama, and now he's winning friends at America's Humane Society for ditching fur.

In a statement from the Humane Society of the United States, a spokesman writes, "We are delighted that Jason Wu has put aside the cruelty of fur for now, and hope he will adopt a permanent fur-free policy.

"Michelle Obama set the sartorial tone for the new administration by choosing to not wear fur at the inauguration, and it's wonderful to see Mr. Wu follow suit."
