HUDSON'S COMEBACK PERFORMANCE A HIT WITH FOXX

JENNIFER HUDSON's cell phone was flooded with calls from celebrity friends after she performed at the Super Bowl in her first public appearance since the slayings of three family members.

Hudson took to the field to belt out the U.S. National Anthem in front of millions of viewers before the big game in Tampa, Florida on Sunday (01Feb09), marking her return to the spotlight after the brutal murders of her mother, brother and nephew last year (08).

The crowd erupted into wild cheers after Hudson took a bow - and it seemed the star's A-list pals were just as moved by her rousing rendition.

According to show producer Rickey Minor, the singer returned to her dressing room to find her two cell phones ringing "like slot machines" - with one particularly moving text message from her former Dreamgirls co-star Jamie Foxx.

Minor says, "His (Foxx's) text said 'Amazing. It brought tears to my eyes.' She's just getting so much love.

"This was such an important performance, because it's the first time everyone has seen Jennifer. But she's in such a great place, with such great spirits and time can heal her wounds. She's on fire right now and totally grounded."

Hudson's mother Darnell Donerson and brother Jason Hudson, 29, were shot dead last October (08) in Donerson's Chicago, Illinois home. The body of the Oscar winner's seven year old nephew, Julian, were found in a car elsewhere in the city three days later.

William Balfour, the estranged husband of Hudson's sister Julia, has pleaded not guilty to charges of first degree murder and home invasion.
