SAX GREAT COOPER DEAD AT 80

Celebrated saxophonist LEROY COOPER, who served as late great RAY CHARLES' bandleader, has died at his home in Orlando, Florida. He was 80.

Cooper spent the 1960s and 70s with Charles' band and was featured on the soul man's In the Heat of the Night and America, The Beautiful.

The sax player also worked with jazz and R+B greats Dr. John, Joe Cocker and Lightnin’ Hopkins.

Cooper also led the Disney band at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in Orlando for 20 years.
