ACTRESS' MOTHER TESTIFIES IN SPECTOR RETRIAL

Dead actress LANA CLARKSON's mother testified about spending her daughter's final day shoe shopping as the prosecution came to rest in the ongoing PHIL SPECTOR murder retrial on Thursday (22Jan09).

Donna Clarkson was the prosecution's final witness to take the stand as lawyers attempted to jail the record producer for the murder of her daughter, who died of a gunshot wound at Spector's Alhambra, California mansion in February 2003.

The testimony ended the first nine weeks of the retrial, which became necessary following a hung jury result in the initial case.

Spector's lawyer Doron Weinberg plans to begin the defence case on Monday (26Jan09).

As part of his defence, Weinberg has requested the jury members visit his client's home, where Clarkson died.

Weinberg maintains Clarkson shot herself in the foyer of the mansion. The prosecution insists Spector shot her.
