British band THE ZUTONS have reportedly been dropped by their record label - despite AMY WINEHOUSE's version of their 2006 track VALERIE becoming an international hit.
The Zutons leaving BBC Radio Manchester where they have just played an acoustic gig, Manchester, England - 08.09.08
The rockers released their third album, You Can Do Anything, in June 2008 to ride on the huge success of the Rehab hitmaker's take on their tune.
The LP made its way to number six in the U.K. charts and produced just one single, which peaked at 26 on Britain's official countdown.
And now the group's label Deltasonic - which is part-owned by music giant Sony BMG - have dumped the five-piece due to disappointing sales, according to Britain's Daily Star newspaper.
A source tells the publication, "Expectations were unrealistically high when The Zutons came back from Los Angeles with their third album.
"Valerie was being pumped out of every stereo around the world and they were totally being overshadowed by a song from their previous release."
