MORRISSEY TO QUIT MUSIC?

Former THE SMITHS frontman MORRISSEY has hinted he will retire from music after the release of his forthcoming album.

The influential rocker's new LP, Years of Refusal, his ninth solo outing, will be released next month (Feb09), with the star branding his latest effort "his strongest".

But despite Morrissey's confidence about the quality of his latest material, he has threatened to quit the industry for good - insisting it would take a "certain lack of dignity" to continue singing.

He tells Filter magazine, "I don't want to go on much longer, really. I think that would suggest a lack of imagination. A certain lack of dignity also. There has to reach a point where you've said enough, I think."
