TAYLOR'S DAD TOOK PART IN TWO-YEAR SOUTH POLE EXPEDITION

Singer/songwriter JAMES TAYLOR's father once took part in an expedition to the South Pole.

The You've Got a Friend hitmaker's dad was gone for two years while Taylor was growing up.

He says, "It was shortly after he moved the family down to North Carolina. He had five kids in short order in about six years.

"You can speculate a lot about what it (his father's absence) meant, but I think it was one of the main dynamics in the way my family is programmed a little bit."
