Ageing rockers THE DEAD have announced details of their first tour in five years.
Formerly the Grateful Dead, the supergroup teased fans with a performance at October's (08) Change Rocks concert/rally for Barack Obama in Pennsylvania, and now they're planning to reteam for a full North American tour in April and May (09).
The 19-date trek kicks off with a show in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Original Dead members Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart will be joined by keyboardist Jeff Chimenti and Allman Brothers Band/Gov’t Mule guitarist Warren Haynes for the 2009 dates.
Weir says, "We’ve got some unfinished business. Everybody has a whole new bag of tricks; we have the body of material we worked up over the years and we have a mind meld going on here and it would be a sin to let that just wither and die.”
