BRANDO WAS REFUSED TV JOB

GODFATHER star MARLON BRANDO reportedly tried to land a job as a daytime TV presenter shortly before his death in a bid to boost his bank balance.

Marlon Brando at the age of 79 walks with a nurse at UCLA Medical Center, where he went to see his doctor. Los Angeles, California - 07.03.03

According to the actor's former assistant, Brando contemplated selling goods on U.S. home shopping channel QVC in 2000 - because he had only $9,000 (GBP6,000) to his name.

And the star was so desperate to work for QVC, he allegedly held discussions with a network executive just a year before his death.

In a new book, Brando's aide Alice Marchak writes, "Marlon was serious about QVC. He had a meeting with a woman from the channel."

Brando died of respiratory failure in 2004 at the age of 80.
