BEYONCE'S SINGLE LADIES IS 2008'S BEST SINGLE

BEYONCE KNOWLES' empowerment anthem for single women everywhere has been named the Best Single of 2008 in a new poll.

The singer's catchy tune Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It) - which reached number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 last week (04Dec08) - toppled Rihanna's Disturbia and Katy Perry's I Kissed A Girl to claim the top spot on Rolling Stone magazine's top 100 hitlist.

And the star's husband Jay-Z also made his mark on the poll - his track Swagga Like Us, a collaboration with fellow rapper T.I., was ranked 22nd.

The top 10 is:
