British boy band TAKE THAT considered changing the name of their new album after they discovered BRITNEY SPEARS had used the same title for her LP.
Take That perform their new album 'The Circus' at the VIP room, Paris, France - 011208
The Never Forget hitmakers released The Circus on Monday (01Dec08) - the same day as the pop singer launched her new LP, Circus.
And the British group seriously considered renaming the record - to avoid confusion with the Toxic hitmaker.
They eventually decided against it because the title they chose is such an accurate reflection of their music.
Band member Mark Owen says, "(It's a) real shame. When I heard about Britney, it ruined it for me, to a point.
"We actually considered renaming the album but that wouldn't have worked, either.
"The title simply fits the record and, besides, the artwork was already finished.
"Things weren't going so well for her, so I hope she has success with this record - but if only she'd given it another name."
