The author of hit U.S. show DEXTER is such a fan of the TV adaptation of his best-selling book he is making a cameo alongside the series' star MICHAEL C. HALL.
Writer Jeff Lindsay penned Darkly Dreaming Dexter, the debut in a series of crime novels, which were used as the inspiration in the grisly TV hit.
And Lindsay was so impressed at how network bosses have transformed his ideas into a watchable show, he jumped at the chance to appear in an episode.
He says, ""It's Hollywood. Everybody knows Hollywood gets hold of wonderful ideas and ruins them.
"(But the producers) really know what they're doing."
The author will play a vice detective guarding a hospital room in an episode set to air on America's Showtime cable channel on Sunday (30Nov08).
The show's September (08) season three premiere proved such a hit that network bosses have commissioned another two series just a month after it returned to the air.
