HANCOCK
Cast: Charlize Theron, Will Smith, Jason Bateman, Eddie Marsan, Jae Head
Synopsis: Academy Award® nominee Will Smith (Best Actor, The Pursuit of Happyness, 2006) stars in this action-packed comedy as Hancock, a sarcastic, hard-living and misunderstood superhero who has fallen out of favor with the public.
When Hancock grudgingly agrees to an extreme makeover from idealistic publicist Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman, Juno), his life and reputation rise from the ashes and all seems right again--until he meets a woman (2003 Academy Award® winner Charlize Theron, Best Actress, Monster) with similar powers to his and the key to his secret past.
MEET DAVE
Cast: Eddie Murphy, Elizabeth Banks, Gabrielle Union, Scott Caan, Ed Helms
Synopsis: Dave Ming Chang (Eddie Murphy), newly arrived in New York City, may be the ultimate fish out of water. There’s something about him that’s not quite right – for starters, he seems remarkably out of place and uncomfortable in his own body. And for good reason: “Dave” is not a man at all, but a ship made in the image of its miniature-sized captain. It’s little Eddie in the BIG family comedy MEET DAVE.
RIVER QUEEN
Cast: Samantha Morton, Kiefer Sutherland, Cliff Curtis, Stephen Rea, Temuera Morrison
Synopsis: 'River Queen' depicts the story of Sarah O'Brien, an Irish immigrant to New Zealand, who becomes caught in the middle of the land wars between the European settlers and Maoris, by the Wanganui River. Kiefer Sutherland plays the leader of the European settlers (from Britain), whilst Cliff Curtis and Temuera Morrison play leaders of the Maori tribes.
SPACE CHIMPS
Cast: Cheryl Hines, Jeff Daniels, Kristin Chenoweth, Stanley Tucci, Andy Samberg
Synopsis: Blast off for an out-of-this-world animated adventure the whole family will love! When Ham III, the slacker grandson of NASA's legendary chimpanzee astronaut, is recruited to help retrieve a lost space probe, he has a close encounter of the hilarious kind as he teams up with the lovely Lieutenant Luna and their by-the-book commander, Titan. But when the ship crash-lands on a strange planet, can this mismatched chimp crew work together to save the mission without driving one another bananas?
FRED CLAUS
Cast: Elizabeth Banks, Kevin Spacey, Paul Giamatti, Rachel Weisz, Vince Vaughn
Synopsis: Fred Claus (Vince Vaughn) has lived his entire life in his brother's very large shadow. Fred tried, but could hardly live up to the example set by the younger Nicholas (Paul Giamatti), who was just a perfect...well...saint. True to form, Nicholas grew up to be the model of giving, while Fred became the polar opposite: a fast-talking repo man who's run out of luck and money. Over Mrs. Claus' objections, Nicholas agrees to help his brother on one condition: that he come to the North Pole and earn the money he needs by working in Santa's workshop. The trouble is that Fred isn't exactly elf material and, with Christmas fast approaching, Fred could jeopardize the jolliest holiday of the year.
THE PRICE OF SUGAR
Cast: Paul Newman, Christopher HartleySynopsis: On an island known for its tropical beauty, tourists flock to the resorts of the Dominican Republic. Not 10 miles away, thousands of dispossessed Haitians labor in the sugarcane fields under slave-like conditions, cutting cane that will eventually end up in the United States as sugar.
Narrated by Paul Newman, 'The Price of Sugar' follows Father Christopher Hartley, a charismatic Spanish priest, as he organizes some of this hemisphere's poorest people to fight for their basic human rights. Father Hartley must go up against one of the country's most powerful sugar baron families, the Vicinis, and even the government of the Dominican Republic to give voice to these Haitians, frequently receiving threats to his own life. Filmmaker Bill Haney—in addition to documenting the abysmal living conditions of the cane workers—portrays a developing country trying to find balance between capitalism and the need for unskilled labor and the illegal immigrants who inevitably bear the load.
'The Price of Sugar' raises key questions about where the products we consume originate, at what cost they are produced and ultimately, where our responsibility lies.
JUST SEX AND NOTHING ELSE
Cast: Adel Jordan, Judit Schell, Karoly Gesztesi, Kata Dobo, Sandor Csanyi
Synopsis: In this 'bright, snappy relationship comedy' (Variety), a well-educated, sophisticated woman gets fed up with men after she discovers her fiance is already married. Though she wants a child, she'd rather raise it as a single mother rather than put up with the shenanigans of men. So she embarks on a series of sexual encounters in order to get pregnant, but finds the world of dating is not that simple. The smart dialogue and pleasant performances by Judit Schell and Sandor Csanyi (Kontroll) helped make this film a smash in Hungary.
