Bosses at Universal Music reportedly cancelled a planned afterparty following this year's (08) MTV European Music Awards in Liverpool, England - due to the global economic downturn.
The company's acts performing at Thursday (06Oct08) night's ceremony included The Killers, Duffy and Take That and officials had planned to celebrate their success with a lavish bash at one of the city's top restaurants.
However, the party is reported to have been scrapped - because company executives believed an extravagant event would have been unwise, considering the current international financial crisis.
A source tells British newspaper The Sun, "The party had been planned down to the last detail. It was all systems go until top brass decided that, owing to the current rocky economic climate, it would be prudent for them to save come cash, so they scrapped the entire thing."
