One of Japan's leading music producers has been arrested on suspicion on fraud.
Tetsuya Komuro is alleged to have defrauded a man out of $5 million (GBP3.12 million) in 2006 by selling him the copyright of 806 of his songs, which he did not actually own the rights to.
The 49-year-old was detained by police, along with two other people said to be involved in the deal, on Tuesday (04Nov08).
Komuro rose to fame as a producer in the 1990s, bringing together a group of the country's highest-selling artists including Namie Amuro, TRF and Globe to form the 'Komuro family'.
The musicmaker is said to have been one of the richest men in Japan before he fell into debt following his second divorce.
