AKON'S ELECTION VOW

R+B star AKON has become the latest celebrity to threaten to quit the U.S. if Democrat BARACK OBAMA fails to win the presidential election.

Americans go to the polls on Tuesday (04Nov08) to decided whether Obama or his Republican rival John McCain will take the White House.

And a string of Obama-supporting stars, including Seal, Susan Sarandon, Stephen Baldwin and Michael Stipe have vowed they will leave the country if McCain is the eventual victor.

Akon has now followed suit, insisting he doesn't want to stay in America under another Republican government.

He says, "If he (Obama) doesn't get into office, I'm gonna change my citizenship. I'm moving back to Africa. You can hold me to that. I'm afraid to live there if he (McCain) is President."

And the star also names 72-year-old McCain's running mate, Sarah Palin, as another reason to flee the country.

He adds, "I don't think he's going to last eight years so she's definitely going to be president. Oh my goodness - that's scarier."
