SWIFT CASTS HER FIRST VOTE

Country star TAYLOR SWIFT has cast her vote in the upcoming U.S. presidential election - and she is delighted to have gone to the ballot boxes for the first time.

Taylor Swift headlines the 18th Annual Chicago Country Music Festival. Chicago, Illinois - 12.10.08

The 18-year-old singer was able to attend an early voting session in her home state of Tennessee on Thursday (30Oct08), because she will be away during Tuesday's (04Nov08) nationwide polls.

And Swift was so determined to exercise her right to vote, she stood in line for an hour and a half for the privilege.

She tells People.com, "I wasn't going to be able to vote on November 4 because I'm going to be in L.A. But there wasn't a chance I was going to let this slip away. The line wrapped around the building but I can honestly tell you that it was worth the wait. I felt like I really accomplished something special."

But Swift refuses to name which candidate she voted for, adding, "I went with my gut instinct. I wavered back and forth the entire time I was waiting in line and when I got into the voting booth, I said, 'That's the one I'm voting for,' and I pressed the button. And I feel good about it!"
