JUDGE'S WARNING TO SPECTOR JURY

Jury selection has begun in the murder retrial of PHIL SPECTOR - with the judge warning potential jurors to disregard any prior agendas.

The music mogul is accused of the murder of actress Lana Clarkson, who died from a gunshot wound to the head in the foyer of the music mogul's Alhambra, California mansion in 2003. Spector maintains the actress shot herself.

Spector appeared in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday (20Oct08), with his wife Rachelle by his side, as the selection began.

The original trial last year (07) ended with a deadlocked jury and Judge Larry Paul Fidler declared a mistrial.

The same judge is presiding over the retrial - and has urged potential jurors to be fair and impartial.

He warned the 80 candidates, "What we do not want...is people with an agenda."

A tight screening process, including questionnaires and declaring vested interests, is used to select the 12 men and women who will make up the jury for the case.
