FORMER SOUL TRAIN HOST ARRESTED FOR ALLEGED ASSAULT

American TV presenter/producer DON CORNELIUS has been arrested by Los Angeles police on suspicion of domestic violence.

The 72-year-old former host and creator of Soul Train was taken into custody on Friday night (17Oct08) after cops were called to his Hollywood Hills home, which he shares with his wife, to investigate a dispute.

As WENN went to press, it was unknown who Cornelius is alleged to have assaulted, or who placed the emergency call.

Cornelius was booked for felony domestic violence and released on $50,000 (GBP28,900) bail. He is due in court next month (14Nov08).

He presented Soul Train, a programme showcasing the best in black music and culture, between 1970 and 1993.
