British singing sensations LEONA LEWIS and ESTELLE were the big winners at the U.K.'s 13th annual Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards on Wednesday (15Oct08) - scooping two honours each.
Lewis, winner of the 2006 series of TV talent competition The X Factor, proved she had made it after picking up two of the night's biggest gongs: Best Album for her debut, Spirit, and Best Video, for her worldwide smash hit Bleeding Love.
But Lewis, who was booed by the crowd for not attending the ceremony in London to collect her awards, missed out on the honour of being named Britain's Best Female artist - losing out to Estelle.
The singer was honoured as the U.K.'s top female, as well as winning Best Song for her comeback collaboration with Kanye West, American Boy, while the Best U.K. male gong went to rapper Dizzee Rascal.
And the U.S. weren't left out of the honours - Lil' Wayne won the gong for Best Hip Hop artist, while Chris Brown took home the award for Best R+B/Soul.
Former Spice Girl Melanie Brown took to the stage alongside Reverend Run to host the show at London's Wembley Arena.
