M.I.A. SPARKS PREGNANCY RUMOURS

Cult British/Sri Lankan star M.I.A. has sparked reports she is pregnant after she was snapped sporting a bulging belly at a recent gig in New York.

The star - real name Mathangi Arulpragasam - performed at the 30th anniversary celebrations of designer denim brand Diesel in the Big Apple on Saturday night (11Oct08).

And pictures taken at the event showing the 31-year-old holding her expanded stomach throughout her set have fired up Internet gossips' speculation she is expecting her first child.

The singer announced she was to retire from the music industry after cancelling her European tour in June (08). She later announced she planned to marry her partner - The Exit singer/guitarist Benjamin Brewer - in June (08), and that she would make another album after the success of her Paper Planes LP.

A spokesperson for the singer has yet to comment on the pregnancy reports.
