TOO MANY STARS HOLD UP WAR CHILD ALBUM RELEASE

Bosses at British charity War Child have been forced to postpone the release of their new fundraising compilation album - because too many stars want to appear on it.

The charity record was set to hit record store shelves on 24 November (08), but compilers insist they haven't got time to record the efforts of all the superstars who want to be a part of the album, called Heroes.

In a statement a War Child spokesman says, "We have been overwhelmed and amazed by the response to the project.

"The wealth of talent who have contacted us wishing to support the charity and contribute to the album is humbling and we are delighted to have been able to change our deadlines to accommodate some of them. It was impossible to say no."

The covers album, which will feature specially-recorded tracks by Sir Paul McCartney, the Kinks and Joy Division, performed by current acts including Duffy, Beck and Rufus Wainwright, is now expected to be released at the beginning of 2009.

War Child's first charity album, Help, was released in 1995. The charity helps aid children affected by war around the world.
