NORRIS BACKS MCCAIN/PALIN

U.S. Republican presidential tag team JOHN McCAIN and SARAH PALIN have been given a celebrity boost - action man CHUCK NORRIS will be voting for them.

CHUCK NORRIS

While many stars have already declared they'll be voting Democrat in the upcoming presidential elections, Norris is supporting the opposition.

He says, "My choice would be John McCain and Sarah Palin mainly because, with Sarah, I think she'd make a good president because she's a no-nonsense gal and she has much more experience than Barack Obama.

"Europe now is not infatuated with (Democrat candidate) Barack Obama anymore. They are infatuated with Sarah Palin."

Palin is, in fact not running for president - she'll be McCain's Vice-President if the Republicans are elected in November (08).

Meanwhile, Walker, Texas Ranger star Norris urges those keen to vote for Obama to look beyond the politician's charisma.

He tells U.S. TV show Extra, "I like his personality and he's a very charismatic guy. I think he has the country at heart, but I think he's misdirected... and because of his misdirection, he's going to lead us down a very deep hole if he gets elected."

But, despite his interest in politics, Norris insists you'll never find his name on a ballot: "I would never run for office. I had tough skin as an entertainer. I don't think my skin is tough enough as a politician."

Former Martial Arts star Chuck Norris switches from Independent to Supporting McCain- Palin...mostly Palin! This just goes to show that just as rules are meant to be broken, so too heroes are meant to fall from grace. Maybe not a heroe, but someone I respected for what as a kid I saw as physical discipline. In this case, I see the decision to pull that sneak support of Palin not only dishonorable and dishonest, but I lost a lot of respect for him and my assumption of mental discipline accompanying the rigorous physical routine is out the window. Chuck Norris was a bad@$$ back in the day, and I am sure he still is somehow. He's also now officially endorsing Sarah Palin as a real (no-nonsense gal?)American. Lots of respect shown for that no-nonsense gal too. Europe is as much infatuated with Sarah Palin as they were with GW Bush. It's disbelief, stupid. For example, if a girl you like tells you that you have no chance, and that instead you have delusions of grandeur. It doesn't mean that you have and should be praised for having 'markedly high ambitions.' It just means you are out of your league. What does it say about the state of consciousness of our nation's people when they mindlessly support a candidate unable to answer directly simple questions, one with questionable allegiances, and one able to joke about being poor? It's like laughing at your favorite comedian after he's ceased to be funny. Or cheering on your hero after you figure out he did steroids - that's not just disingenuous. That is hypocritical, contrary to our professed values, and un-patriotic. Chuck Norris might just be clueless enough not to realize the danger WE ALL risk by encouraging people who couldn't even get support from his own party back in 2000. John McCain lost, and was graciously told to wait his turn while GW proceeded to do a better job of screwing things up. Thank goodness more supporters of John McCain don't have (political aspirations) delusions of grandeur too. If he is anything you can believe in, it is the principle of constant change. That's not a maverick, that's a wheel of fortune. I for one, am not willing to trust my future to someone so out of touch with what is important to the middle class, and the other 97% of Americans. Human decency may me perceived to be dead, but it doesn't have to be. Not if we hold to task politicians who throw around words as carelessly as they fly off the handle with them. Lance Armstrong, IS a maverick. Facing, overcoming and never submitting to cancer, and with a little luck surviving to both tell the story, and living another day so that he could fight on and inspire every day. LBJ, conjuring up memories of his own childhood poverty, championed civil rights in the Senate, and later as President; against incredilbe odds. JFK, although a 'liberal', championed personal responsibility and that of duty to one's country - to make it better. JFK saw fit to educate himself, performing well in school, AND entering into service with a bad back, still served combat duty. MLK, advanced impossible goals in an irrational time, one reminiscent of the time of tribal wars, and on par with its barbarity. Lynching, castration, decapitation...no other nation - as late as the 20th century in the 'civilized world ' had as sanctioned by law, a practice of systematic discrimination based on phenotype - that allowed for dispicable, random acts of genocide. By setting the stage for causes greater then themselves and simultaneously risking death; these leaders were true Mavericks. John McCain brags about saving money, and protecting our citizens' interests- what he was elected to do. Then again, he's proud of fighting his own party, too. Why not just do a LIeberman, if he is so keen to disagree with people with whom he supposedly shares common values? Being different for the sake of being different is assenine, or blind ambition, or both. Both are extraordinarily dangerous in the age in which we live. By repeatedly acknowledging having been hot-headed and then having to apologize - who really shows a lack of judgment? Who truly appears not to have the right temperament to lead in these times. It is not arrogance that lends importance to nations around the world being hopeful of Barack Obama's potential contributions to our country's malnutritioned legacy. Arrogance is judging nations with histories of genocides of their own, dictators, despots, and foolish investments of human currency (wars) of their own; that they don't know what they are talking about. That England, France or Germany somehow have lost their capacity for expressing well-reasoned opinions of character, or have somehow not realized the gravity of choosing wrong because someone charms their pants off, but otherwise is undeniably disturbed, an obsessive compulsive idiot, maniac or both - is ludicrous. Worse still, Sen. McCain or Obama for that matter, could pretend he cares, then show in his actions complete disregard for anything but the talking points. Look at the standards we set for McCain by electing GW. If he was once decent, he could - not that he does - but John McCain could argue that we are idiots, and we don't deserve a decent President. That we are now comfortable submitting to abuse for not just 4, but 8 years. We are used to our name being in the dirt, and will no longer rise to the challenge of being Americans, simply because we have become spoiled by living in America, in relative ease. He could reasonably argue that, do it, and we would probably put up with it. Left, right or middle, Democrat or Republican... please think before you vote, don't just listen. When whether Democrat or a Republican, all you have to go on is a collection of talking points, you cannot afford to be trust everything you hear from either of the candidates. More than that though, we all have to the responsibility to make the more prudent choice, whatever that ends up being.
