BRAD PITT can add gay rights hero to his resume after donating $100,000 (GBP54,000) to a campaign fighting to keep California's gay marriage laws active.
The movie star's donation to the anti-Proposition 8 campaign will help activists in their battle to oppose a high-level state vote in the upcoming November (08) elections, to make same sex marriages constitutionally illegal in California.
Gay marriages were legalised in the state in May (08) and Ellen DeGeneres and former Star Trek star George Takei have already wed their partners under the new law.
In making his donation, Pitt states, "No one has the right to deny another their life, even though they disagree with it, because everyone has the right to live the life they so desire if it doesn't harm another and because discrimination has no place in America, my vote will be for equality and against Proposition 8."
