SIMPSON PROSECUTOR URGES JURY TO DELIVER 'TRUE VERDICT'

LATEST: The prosecutor in O.J. SIMPSON's kidnapping and robbery trial asked the jury on Monday (15Sep08) to deliver "the true verdict" against the former football star and his friend CLARENCE STEWART.

The pair is accused of robbing two Las Vegas memorabilia dealers at gunpoint last year (07). Their trial began in Sin City on Monday (15Sep08) - and Deputy District Attorney Christopher Owens wasted no time referencing Simpson's murder acquittal in 1995.

Owens told the jury, "Ladies and gentlemen you are the jurors in this case and the final story is going to be told by you.

"You will be able to write that final chapter, the chapter of arrogance and hypocrisy and that will be the true verdict. The verdict you can feel good about."

Simpson's defence attorney Yale Galanter hit back, insisting the jury could not be influenced by Simpson's not guilty verdict for the murder of his wife Nicole and her friend Ronald Goldman. He said, "This case, as Judge Glass has instructed you so many times I have lost count, is not about what occurred in California. This is not about writing a book and writing a last chapter about Mr. Simpson and his life nor should it be. And Mr. Owens knows that."

The trial continues.
