Mexican singer PEPE AGUILAR faces legal action from a concert promoter after he allegedly cancelled two U.S. shows in a dispute over money.
The star is accused of signing a two-concert deal with California-based Eddie Serrato but then pulling out of two gigs just minutes before he was due to go onstage.
The promoter claims he had agreed to pay Aguilar a deposit before each of the shows and then hand over the remainder in cash just before the gig.
And although Serrato admits he didn’t give Aguilar the full deposit, he claims the star failed in his duties to promote the show in Boise, Idaho on 8 August (08) and another in Salt Lake City, Utah on 9 August (08) - leaving Serrato unable to sell enough tickets to pay his fee.
And the legal papers, filed at Los Angeles County Superior Court on Saturday (13Aug08), also allege Aguilar then refused to perform.
Aguilar subsequently wrote an open letter to his fans apologising for the scrapped gigs. But now Serrato is suing the star for a variety of offences including breach of contract.
The promoter is seeking more than $700,000 (GBP378,000) in compensation, according to TMZ.com.
