SPEARS ARRIVES EARLY AT THE VMAS

BRITNEY SPEARS was so keen to make it to the MTV Video Music Awards on time and avoid the media - she turned up almost three hours early.

The pop superstar, who opened the 2008 prizegiving at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles, was on set long before her peers started walking the red carpet at the event.

Surrounded by security and dressed down in a blue tank top and jeans, the singer made her way to her dressing room.

The early, professional arrival was a marked change from Spears' 2007 VMAs appearance, when she delivered an ill-advised, lacklustre performance that won her nothing but criticism for her out-of-shape look and lip-syncing.
