HATHAWAY'S EX STALLS COURT HEARING

ANNE HATHAWAY's ex-boyfriend, RAFFAELLO FOLLIERI will spend another week in jail at his own request, according to U.S. reports.

The Get Smart star split from the businessman in June (08), shortly before he was arrested on suspicion of unscrupulous business dealings.

The 29-year-old Italian has been charged with a dozen counts of federal wife fraud conspiracy and money laundering and will remain in jail until he can post $21 million (GBP11.4 million) bail.

However, Follieri grand jury's preliminary hearing was due to happen this coming Friday (05Sep08), but he has asked for the hearing to be postponed for another week, according to Access Hollywood.

The date being pushed back until 12 September (08) means Follieri will have to spend another week behind bars.

It is thought he is stalling the hearing in a bid to work out a plea deal with prosecutors, rather than facing the charges, which could result in the maximum sentence of 225 years behind bars according to the U.S. legal system.

It was alleged earlier this week (beg01Sep08) by U.S. magazine Vanity Fair, that Hathaway loaned Follieri thousands of dollars over the course of their relationship, and even paid his $37,000 (GBP20,000)-a-month rent at his New York apartment until his lease ran out in June (08), just before the end of their relationship.
