GREAT WHITE PAY OUT $1 MILLION

LATEST: Rockers GREAT WHITE have agreed to pay $1 million (GBP540,000) to the families of those who perished in a fire at a concert in 2003.

According to The Providence Journal newspaper, the band agreed to a tentative settlement in court on Tuesday (02Sep08).

An ill-advised pyrotechnics display set off the fire tragedy at The Station nightclub, Rhode Island which left 100 people dead.

Covered by the settlement agreement are band members Jack Russell, Mark Kendall, David Filice and Eric Powers; its former tour manager, Daniel M. Biechele; the band's manager; the agent who booked the band, and the band's record company, Knight Records.

The $1 million being offered to settle the federal lawsuit is the amount of insurance held by the parties, according to John P. Barylick, one of the lawyers who represents the victims.
