CROWE/DICAPRIO CO-STAR DETAINED IN IRAN

An Iranian actress who appears in RUSSELL CROWE and LEONARDO DiCAPRIO's new movie BODY OF LIES has been detained by authorities in her homeland after making plans to visit Hollywood.

Golshifteh Farahani was stopped as she boarded a plane bound for Europe and then to Los Angeles, where she was hoping to meet with directors and casting agents.

State news agency IRNA officials claim Iranian actors are required to obtain a permit from the ministry of culture and Islamic guidance in order to appear in foreign movies, and Farahani didn't have the required documentation.

The 25-year-old is one of Iran's most popular actresses - and one of the country's most controversial public figures; she played the wife of a drug addict in Santouri, a film criticised for portraying a negative image of Iranian society.

Her appearance in Body of Lies marked the first by an actress living in Iran in a Hollywood production.
