While many big names in the music industry condemn illegal downloading and file sharing, the guitarist claims it is responsible for introducing the band to fans.
And he insists the unlawful habit is keeping many classic bands rocking.
Campbell tells LiveDaily, "I think it's very positive. A lot of younger kids get turned on to classic bands because they're trading files. They have 4,000 or 5,000 songs on their iPod, that's $4,000 or $5,000 on their iPod, at iTunes' prices, at least.
"A 12 year old can't afford that. When kids trade files, it's actually a good thing for classic bands such as us. It's not such a good thing for up-and-coming artists who need to sell records."

LATEST: SLIPKNOT star COREY TAYLOR insists his heavy metal group are not responsible for a slaying in South Africa, which left a teenage student dead.
Corey Taylor with his solo band Stone Sour live in concert at the Astoria, London, England - 13.03.07
Locals in Krugersdorp have been quick to blame 18-year-old Morne Harmse's devotion to all things Slipknot for his brutal attack on 16-year-old Jacques Pretorius on Monday (18Aug08).
Friends and fellow students of the murderer, who killed Pertorius with a sword before attacking two Nick Diederichs High School gardeners, claim the teen was obsessed with the rock band, their imagery and music.
Harmse reportedly wore a handmade mask similar to the one Taylor wears in videos and onstage, and has other masks resembling those worn by the singer's bandmates at home.
But Taylor tells Blender magazine that the local community leaders who are, in part, blaming Slipknot for the tragedy are being ridiculous.
He says, "Obviously, I'm disturbed by the fact that people were hurt and someone died. As far as my responsibility for that goes, it stops there.
"You have something like this happen, it could have been Marilyn Manson, it could have been any number of people who make art that is startling visually, on the darker side. It could've been Pat Boone, for Christ's sake.
"At the end of the day, there are always going to be mental disorders and people who cause violence for no other reason than the fact that they're f**ked up and lost. And all we can do is try to learn from it."

The 25-year-old is one of Iran's most popular actresses - and one of the country's most controversial public figures; she played the wife of a drug addict in Santouri, a film criticised for portraying a negative image of Iranian society.

The other driver involved in actor SHIA LaBEOUF's recent car crash has been cited for running a red light and causing the accident which put the TRANSFORMERS star in hospital with a smashed hand. The movie star's truck flipped twice after LaBeouf collided with 21-year-old Simon Herbert's vehicle in Hollywood on 27 July (08).
LaBeouf has since undergone hand surgery, which delayed shooting on the Transformers sequel. The young star is now back on the set.
Police have determined Herbert failed to stop at a stop light and was responsible for the crash. He has been ordered to appear in court next month (Sep08).
The authorities are still awaiting for the return of blood tests so they can determine if LaBeouf was driving under the influence.
The actor's Transformers director Michael Bay insists LaBeouf was driving safe at the time of the crash: "He was not drunk. He was drinking hours and hours before... That's (DUI rumour) gonna go away.”
