PERRY: 'I WAS NEVER A SAINT'

Pop star KATY PERRY has hit out at reports that she has gone off the rails, insisting she was never as saintly as people made out.

The 23-year-old is the middle child of two deeply traditional pastors and was brought up in a religious household, but the singer denies she rebelled against her strict upbringing.

She says, "People like to make out that I have gone off the rails and disappointed my parents with my music, but it's not true.

"I was never a saint. I'm a human being and I mess up sometimes."

Perry's summer anthem I Kissed A Girl is currently top of the U.S. and U.K. charts.
