AUSTRALIAN COUNTRY STAR LINDSAY DIES

Australian country music veteran REG LINDSAY has died. He was 79.

The star passed away at a hospital in Newcastle, Australia on Tuesday (05Aug08) following a battle with pneumonia.

Lindsay enjoyed a career spanning over 50 years in the music industry and was the first Australian country singer to be recognised with a plaque on the Walkway of Stars in Nashville, Tennessee.

Lindsay is survived by his second wife, Roslyn, and daughters Dianne, Sandra and Joanne.
