PUSSYCAT DOLLS COVER UP FOR ASIA PERFORMANCE

The PUSSYCAT DOLLS were careful not to launch into any provocative dance routines during the MTV Asia awards in Malaysia on Saturday (02Aug08) - insisting they have a new found 'respect for the culture' in the country.

The girl band came under fire from authorities there following a gig last year (07), with officials branding their raunchy performances and skimpy stage costumes offensive to Muslims in the country.

The group's concert promoter also landed a $3,000 (GBP1,500) fine.

But the Buttons hitmakers were back in Malaysia this weekend (02-03Aug08) to perform at the prestigious music awards ceremony - but the stars took care to cover up and tone down their routines for the occasion.

Pussycat Dolls member Jessica Sutta tells MTVAsia.com, "We are better prepared this time to perform in Malaysia and we have deep respect for the culture. It is about the music, not about sexy. We are going to respect the people of this country and the culture."
