STIPE: 'REM WILL ALWAYS BE GEEKY'

R.E.M. frontman MICHAEL STIPE is proud for his legendary band to be known as 'geeky', and insists they will never be cool.

The rocker has admitted it will never be fashionable for music fans to enjoy his music, but claims their uncool image is their biggest strength.

He says, "We are always going to be an imperfect, weird and geeky outfit. We were that way to begin with and, to a large degree, always will be."

Stipe adds, "In fact that may be one of our strengths. Hard as we may try to make something supercool, it's just not going to happen."
