DEATHS MAR FIRST ROTHBURY FESTIVAL

Police authorities in Michigan have confirmed two revellers at the Rothbury Festival lost their lives on Sunday (06Jul08).

A 33-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man were taken from the festival site by ambulance after they were found dead at the event.

Details of the tragedies have not been disclosed. The causes of death are expected to take up to four weeks to determine, but police have confirmed the festivalgoers died in separate incidents. Initial autopsies suggested no signs of foul play.

Despite the double tragedy, police are calling the inaugural Rothbury Festival, which featured acts like John Mayer, the Dave Matthews Band and Snoop Dogg, a huge success. Law enforcement officials only arrested 18 people during the four-day Independence Day weekend event.

Organisers are already planning the 2009 Rothbury Festival.
