The Deal releases July 29, 2008 under the Miriam Collection label from Genius Products and The Weinstein Company.

THE DEAL, directed by Oscar®-nominated filmmaker Stephen Frears (The Queen, Mrs. Henderson Presents), explores the complexities of a long-standing relationship between the former British Prime Minster and his successor. From their early parliamentary days to the key meetings following the death of party leader John Smith, Brown was slowly eclipsed by his younger protégé Blair with the growing belief that his popularity could deliver a General Election victory. The film follows the repercussions of what happened and the lasting legacy of good and ill that stems from it.

THE DEAL is a BAFTA award winner for Best Drama and stars Michael Sheen (The Queen, Blood Diamond) as Tony Blair and David Morrissey (The Reaping) as Gordon Brown. Loosely based on the novel The Rivals by James Naughtie, the compelling docudrama debuted on HBO in November 2007. The Deal will be available for the suggested retail price of $22.95.

Synopsis: Tony Blair and Gordon Brown shared a tiny windowless office in the House of Commons in 1983, and a friendship grew out of similar political philosophies and ambitions. When the Labour Party suddenly needed a new leader they were the front-runners, and one of them had to stand aside. The two friends were faced with making a life altering decision, almost exclusively determining the future of British politics.
