VILLAGE PEOPLE STAR HAS THROAT SURGERY

VILLAGE PEOPLE star VICTOR WILLIS has undergone surgery to remove nodules from his vocal cords.

The original lead singer of the 1970s disco band was forced to cancel his U.S. summer tour as a result of the operation at a San Diego, California hospital on Monday (07Jul08).

Linda Smith, a spokeswoman for Willis, says he is expected to make a full recovery and is hoping to play live dates in October (08).

She added, "Victor's surgery was a success, and the benign nodules were successfully removed."
