Nick (Michael Cera) frequents New York's indie rock scene nursing a broken heart and a vague ability to play the bass. Norah (Kat Dennings) is questioning pretty much all of her assumptions about the world. DONOVAN BROKE BRITISH BROADCASTING RULE
Singer-turned-radio host JASON DONOVAN broke broadcasting rules when he publicly backed politician BORIS JOHNSON to be London mayor, an official body has ruled.

Jason Donovan Arrivals at the 'High School Musical' press night at the Hammersmith Apollo, London, England - 05.07.08

Donovan spoke in support of the Conservative candidate, who took over the English capital's mayoral reigns from Ken Livingstone in May (08).

On the 27 April (08) edition of Sunday Night With Jason Donovan, the 40-year-old said: "It's time for a change. It's definitely time for a change. Boris Johnson. I have to say it. That's my political message."

But the Australian star's comments breached radio regulations, independent regulator Ofcom has found.

A spokesman for Ofcom says, "A presenter endorsing a political candidate at a time of an election is a clear and unambiguous breach of the due impartiality requirements of the broadcasting code.

"A presenter, albeit relatively new to his role as a radio presenter, was allowed to use his programme to promote an unchallenged political message in favour of a candidate for the 2008 London mayoral elections."

MEAT LOAF SILENCES CRITICS
Rock legend MEAT LOAF has hit back at critics who slammed his performance at a recent U.K. concert - insisting he is still recovering from an illness.

MEAT LOAF

Scores of fans walked out of the Bat Out of Hell hitmaker's gig in Hampshire, England on Sunday night (06Jul08) before the show's finish, complaining his vocals were below par.

But David Cox, a spokesman for the 60-year-old, claims there were "no problems" with the sound system and insists rumours the star was drunk are false because "he does not drink".

Cox adds, "Since last year he has had vocal training to get his voice back up to scratch and his real fans will have heard that.

"Meat Loaf put on the kind of fantastic show fans have come to expect."

Meat Loaf turned fans against him at a show in Vancouver, Canada last year (Nov07) when his voice gave up mid-song. The acute laryngitis led him to axe a string of dates in the U.K.

He was later diagnosed with a cyst on his vocal chords.

He also recently vowed never to play at another "stupid" English music festival, because the crowds are too rowdy.

ANGRY BALE WAS BOLTED IN AS BATMAN
CHRISTIAN BALE really was a brooding, angry Caped Crusader in BATMAN BEGINS - because his tight-fitting costume made him feel restricted and caged.

CHRISTIAN BALE stars as Batman in Batman Begins.

The movie star insisted on making some vital adjustments to the iconic batsuit for his second outing as Batman - and started with the comic book superhero's headgear.

Bale reveals his Batman Begins costume was topped off with a helmet that felt like "I was going scuba diving".

He recalls, "You couldn't move your head, you were bolted in. It was a vice on my skull, so I had a headache the whole damn time.

"I used it; Batman's supposed to be full of anger and rage and I didn't have to act that."

OASIS ALBUM FOR PAYING PUBLIC ONLY
Rocker NOEL GALLAGHER won't allow fans to pick their own price for the new OASIS album - because it cost too much money to make.

Noel Gallagher outside the Met Bar, London, England - 04.07.08

The Wonderwall star has ruled out following in Radiohead's footsteps and permitting fans to pay what they want for Oasis' long-awaited Dig Out Your Soul in an Internet initiative ahead of the due date in October (08).

Although Gallagher has applauded Radiohead for being daring enough to pioneer the sales scheme, which turned their last album In Rainbows, into a big hit, he insists his band will not be doing the same.

He says, "That's not our bag. I didn't spend a year in the most expensive studio in England, with the most expensive producer in America, and the most expensive graphic designer in London to then give it away. F**k that."

Radiohead offered an 'honesty box' policy with their In Rainbows release, where fans could pay as much as they thought the album was worth.

But Gallagher is convinced it was just a clever PR ploy.

He adds, "To be honest, to me it looked like marketing... a great way of getting a load of marketing for free really, but good for them. That's what they do, they're rebels and outsiders."
