TAMMY FAYE REMEMBERED IN NEW BIOPIC

Evangelist singer TAMMY FAYE MESSNER is set to be immortalised in an upcoming biopic.

Dallas star Charlene Tilton has been cast to play the singer.

The actress says, "Tammy gave me the rights to her story, and said, `Charlene, no one can play me like you can.'

"I promised her I would see the project through."

Messner became a singing legend when she began starring with her former husband Jim Bakker on televised Christian broadcasts in the 1980s. She died last year (Jul07) after losing a battle with colon cancer, aged 65.

Tilton adds of her role: "Tammy came from nothing. She and Jim began their career by putting on puppet shows for children in church basements.

"But, even after they became rich and famous, Tammy stayed the same sweet, funny and caring person she always was."
