JAZZMAN SVENSSON DIES IN SCUBA ACCIDENT
Swedish jazz pianist ESBJORN SVENSSON died in a scuba diving accident this weekend (beg14Jun08), his manager reports.
Burkhard Hopper, manager of the group Esbjorn Svensson Trio (e.s.t.), said the 44-year-old composer died on Saturday (14Jun08) in Sweden's Stockholm archipelago.
E.s.t. - which also includes Dan Berglund and Magnus Ostrom - was renowned for drawing younger audiences to the jazz scene and received numerous accolades for their music, including the European Jazz Award and the BBC Jazz Award.
The band had recently completed its eleventh album, Lencocyte, which had been slated for release in September (08).
