Englishman & self-described global truth seeker, Lawrence Beldon-Smythe, has landed in the U.S. & his wild adventures will be seen on a different type of Travel Channel series, LAWRENCE OF AMERICA, premiering Tuesday, June 3 at 11 & 11:30 PM (ET/PT).
“Finding the truth is my passion,” says Lawrence. “It’s the only thing I ever think about…apart from cake.” He considers himself one of the world’s great journalists - even if no one else does.
In this new twelve-episode series, Lawrence immerses himself in America’s numerous and diverse subcultures. He mingles with NASCAR fans in North Carolina to drive in a real, death-defying race, camps, drinks and fights as a Confederate soldier in choreographed battles with Civil War re-enactors in Pennsylvania, learns to defy gravity as a NASA astronaut trainee in Florida, and even discovers what puts the “sin” in Sin City a.k.a. Las Vegas, Nevada.
His approach to journalistic reporting is simple. “I’m a toucher not a watcher. I firmly believe the truth will only be revealed if I jump in and get my hands dirty. I’m not saying literally dirty because sometimes that can be disgusting,” says Lawrence.
LAWRENCE OF AMERICA is Travel Channel’s first original series produced for its 11 PM time slot. With comedic elements throughout, LAWRENCE OF AMERICA takes a revealing look at diversity in all its glory.
