Singer DIAHANN CARROLL wants to make a movie version of her hit Broadway musical NO STRINGS.
Diahann Carroll speaking at National Museum of Women in the Arts honors five women at 'Legacies of Women in the Performing Arts' at the Enrique V. Iglesias Conference Center Auditorium. Washington DC, USA - 14.09.07
The play, about a black model who falls for a white writer, was written for Carroll by lyricist Richard Rodgers in 1962.
It thrilled audiences and critics and won the star a Tony Award. More than 40 years on, Carroll is fed up waiting for someone else to take it to the big screen - so she's planning to do it herself.
Carroll, 72, says, "I was so proud of that show. We had a glorious time on Broadway, and I don't know why they never make it into a movie.
"Maybe I should try to produce that movie myself. I might just do that."
